OttLite makes specialty lighting that replicates natural sunlight. The products are made with a unique blend of phosphors that were created by Dr. John Ott, who won an Academy Award for his stop motion photography work in Disney’s Cinderella. He was able to grow the pumpkin that became Cinderella’s carriage indoors by using the technology. Today, OttLite makes specific lighting for specific purposes: growing plants indoors, for reading and for for artists that want to see true colors.

Being a unique product in a world on commodity, the package concepts had to explain the difference between OttLite and incandescent lighting, and to validate the cost difference too. These package concepts were used successfully to introduce the product to consumers nationwide, at all Lowe’s stores.
